First of Public Listening Sessions on the Endangered Clearlake Hitch Held

At the meeting of the State Water Resources Control Board last night, the first of two public listening sessions regarding the decline of the Clearlake Hitch was held. The decline of the Hitch has been going on for decades, with the fish being declared endangered in 2014. During the meeting, data was shown that the fish population is crashing and that intervention to save it is needed immediately. The Hitch could be the first species to go extinct in the state in over 50 years. The Hitch will be on the agenda of the next Lake County Board of Supervisors meeting and more listening sessions are planned.
