The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazards statement for the Mendocino coast through this afternoon. Large unexpected waves could be seen without warning along the coast, possibly sweeping people and large objects into the sea from rocks, jetties and beaches. Those visiting the beach areas should stay farther back and be mindful of sneaker waves.
