Lake County Not Included In Preservation Area of Yellow Legged Frog

Lake County will not be included in the area of protection proposed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to preserve four population segments of the Foothill Yellow-legged Frog. The amphibian is found from the Willamette Valley in Oregon to the Santa Lucia mountain range in Southern California and from the Pacific coast to the western slopes of the Cascades and Sierra Nevadas. There are six distinct population segments for the frog, but the area in which Lake County is included has not been deemed endangered by Fish and Wildlife.
