State Senator Mike McGuire introduced legislation last week intended to stop a plan to transport coal on trains through several Northern California counties, including Mendocino. Calling the plan one of the largest environmental threats the North Coast has seen in decades, McGuire’s bill would ban any state funding from being invested to improve the rail line for coal shipments north of Willits.
