A Lakeport woman accused of murder has pleaded not guilty. TheLakeCountyNews reports Melinda Mildred Fred is accused of fatally stabbing Christopher Aaron Burrows earlier in the month. Fred is charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic violence. Her bail is set at $1 million. A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.

After more than 40 years in higher education, the interim chancellor of Yuba Community College is retiring as of the end of the month. The Mendocino County Museum has been awarded a general operation donation of $500,000 from the William L. Bittenbender Trust.
