The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has begun a new Steelhead survey along the Russian River. Personnel are checking locations along the river, including two in Ukiah, Riverside Park, and somewhere near Vichy, collecting data regarding Steelhead Trout in the area. In-person surveillance is being used because Steelhead report cards are only being submitted in about a third of total fish catches. It is hoped the survey will give more information about catch rates of both hatchery-bred and Natural Origin Steelhead.
