City of Ukiah Sets Ultimatum for Palace Hotel Ownership

In the strongest action taken by the city of Ukiah with regard to the Palace Hotel, city officials demanded that the hotel’s current owner submit a signed contract with a qualified structural engineering company to provide an independent evaluation of the historic building’s existing condition by close of business today. According to MendoFever, If he fails to comply, Jitu Ishwar could face court-imposed fines and possible jail time. The city’s chief building code enforcement officer has said the notice is the only one Ishwar will receive. A May 14th deadline was also set for Ishwar to show a clear path forward to mitigation.
