Mendo County Board of Supers To Consider Rescinding Public Records Ordianance

The unpopular ordinance in Mendocino County that requires members of the public to pay for the time of public employees to research and provide copies of certain public documents may be going away.  KZYZ reports the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors at their next meeting, Supervisors Williams and Mulheren will propose repealing Ordinance 4507, otherwise known as the Public Records Act Ordinance.  The two supervisors have asked for time on the schedule to discuss.  The ordinance was supposed to cut down costs of complicated records requests but has only opened the county to possible expensive litigation for violating the Public Records Act.
