An audit of the financial records of the temporary homeless shelter in Lakeport is in the future after the shelter director billed the city over $34,000 for a month’s work. Director Yvonne Coxcontends that she worked continuously when trying to get the shelter open, struggling with a lack of staff and trained volunteers. An anonymous source close to the shelter said part of the lack of staff was due to clashes with Cox. Annie Barnes, executive director of the Sunrise Special Services Foundation has no comment on whether the billing by Cox was warranted, but did say “We did what we could to keep the shelter open”.
