CalFire will begin requiring burn permits on May 1st for those wanting to conduct a residential or other controlled burn during warmer weather. Mendocino County will require a permit for all residential burning starting on the 1st. Property owners can go to burnpemits.fire.ca.gov and submit an application. Anyone burning in a state responsibility area must also have a CalFire burn permit.
