At their meeting on Tuesday, the Lakeport City Council discussed whether to sell fireworks again this year for the 4th of July holiday. After hearing opinions from both sides of the subject, TheRecordBee reports that the council doesn’t have the power to make changes to Measure C, that changes must be made by a vote during an election. The decision not to put the subject to a vote was motivated in part by the fact that for the charities who sell fireworks as part of their fundraising efforts, fireworks sales are crucial, bringing in almost $2 million each year.
