A grant that will help establish a mobile probation service center has been awarded to the Lake County Probation Department. TheLakeCountyNews reports the grant will allow for the purchase of a vehicle that will allow those on probation that are unhoused to have access to all services, including check-ins with their officers, and remote court appearances. According to Chief Probation Officer Wendy Mondfrans, almost 25% are unhoused but still need help with services. The just over $220,000 grant ande new vehicle will help reduce technical violations and decrease recidivism.
