Residents of Clearlake and Clearlake Oaks hit by the 2017 Sulfur Fire among other wildfires may soon receive more help in the form of a bill that would exempt those fire victims from having to pay federal income tax on money received from the Fire Victim Trust or attorney’s fees. H.R. 7305, reintroduced by state representatives Mike Thompson, Doug LaMalfa, Jared Huffman, and Tom McClintock would lessen some of the tremendous burden on fire victims. Mike Thompson represents the 4th district, which includes Lake County.
