EPA Announces Clean Up Plans for Sulphur Bank Mine Site, Opens Public Comment Period

The EPA has released its cleanup plans for the Sulphur Bank Mercury Mine Site and has opened a public comment period. The LakeCountyNews reports the plan proposes cleaning up portions of the site in Clearlake Oaks, specifically the mine area, the sovereign territory of the Elem Indian Colony Tribe and contaminated soils in the residential area to the southwest of the site. The EPA will hold an online community question and answer session regarding the proposed plan from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. For more information, go to the EPA website.
