Unanswered Questions and Concerns Regarding Proposed Purchase of Historic Lucerne Hotel

There are many unanswered questions and concerns regarding the claim by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians that it plans to convert the historic Lucern Hotel into a homeless housing facility, using a multi-million dollar grant from the state, received after the tribe said the Lake County Board of Education was a partner in the endeavor.  The county superintendent of schools said the Lake County Office of Education was not a partner in any way with the tribe, and that the office was unaware of the grant application.  The agency awarding the grant has said the grant will be awarded regardless, and that has raised questions regarding the effectiveness, manner of oversight and expectations of the state effort to push money into communities to address homelessness.  Other key partners, agencies and officials names in the grant application have also not been kept in the loop, a concern as the tribe pushes to close escrow on the hotel.
