Schools in Lower Lake remain closed today as a result of the Cache fire. Today through the weekend, staff will be deep cleaning the interiors of the school buildings and will change out HVAC filters. The superintendent says they hope to have students in Lower Lake back in their classrooms on Monday.

The Lake County Air Quality Management District said more smoke and haze are expected in the air basin this week. Fires including the Dixie, McFarland and Monument fires, and the new Caldor fire in El Dorado County are creating smoke impacts.
The Lakeport City Council set a public hearing date for a utility rate increase during yesterday’s meeting. If approved, the gradual increases for water and sewer rates would take place over the next five years, starting November 1, 2021.
