CAL FIRE MEU to Double Usual Seasonal Firefighter Staffing

A portion of the $80 million Emergency Funds Governor Gavin Newsom approved, will allow CAL FIRE Mendocino Unit to hire more help. They posted online that the funds they’ll receive will help CAL FIRE MEU double their usual seasonal firefighter staffing for crews and fire engines from apprx. 120 to approx. 220 firefighters.

High Winds Caused Power Outage for Thousands

Over 8,000 PG&E customers in Northern Mendocino County were without power early yesterday morning. PG&E said transmission lines leading to five substations were impacted by falling tree limbs due to high winds. Power was restored for most customers by 10 yesterday morning.

State to Distribute Millions in Community Power Resiliency Grants

Mendocino County has a new wood chipper to help support fuels reduction activities in Redwood Valley and throughout the county.
