The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified the elderly woman who died in a single-car crash near Lakeport midweek. 76-year-old Linda Jean Smith’s vehicle veered across Highway 29, crashed through a barbed wire fence, rolled across Mountainview Road, down an embankment, and hit a tree. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
