Ukiah Changes Rules for Raising Certain Animals

The Ukiah City Council has approved an ordinance allowing residents to keep hens, rabbits, and beehives without a fee or Planning Commission review. Now, residents can have these animals as long as they comply with animal limits based on property size and humane treatment. The ordinance and new fee take effect October 3rd.

Jack Peters Creek Bridge to Close Next Week

The Jack Peters Creek Bridge on Route 1, north of Mendocino, will close nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting Monday, the 15th, through Thursday, the 18th, for concrete overlay application. The work is part of the nearing-completion $15.5 million bridge widening and rail upgrade project, which expands the 1939 bridge.
