The Upper Lake off-highway vehicle trails and Deer Valley Campground are once again open in the Mendocino National Forest. The facilities had been closed due to storm damage since February. Visitors are cautioned to continue to be aware of their surroundings as trees may continue to fall and trails may be blocked.
At today’s meeting of the Eel-Russian River Project Joint Powers Authority, members will hear an update on discussions with Pacific Gas & Electric regarding the Potter Valley Project. The community is encouraged to attend. The meeting is scheduled for 3 to 5 pm at the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors Chambers on Low Gap Road.

The Mendocino County Office of Emergency Management has announced new software for mapping evacuations on MendoReady.org. The software helps first responders plan, communicate and execute evacuations more effectively. The map will allow the public to readily see all emergency advisories, warnings and orders county-wide. Due to a national outbreak of measles, Lake County Health Services is emphasizing the importance of childhood vaccinations. Unvaccinated children stand a higher chance of catching measles and will be sent home if there are confirmed cases. Lake County Public Health offers free vaccines at the Walk In Clinic on Wednesdays til 2:30 pm.
