Local Tribes Including in Grants to Combat MMIP Crisis

The state has awarded almost $20 million in grants to 18 Native American tribes in California to support their efforts addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, or MMIP, crisis. Lake County tribes including Robinson Rancheria and Scotts Valley are among the grantees.

Teen Killed, Four Injured in ORV Crash

A teenager is dead and four other teens injured in an off-road vehicle crash on Thursday night. CHP reports the accident occurred on private property on Schwartz Lane. Hill Fire in Willits Destroys Trailer and Burns Wildland

A fire in Willits, dubbed the Hill Fire destroyed a trailer and burned vegetation in the 800 block of East Hill Road on Wednesday. Governor Closes A Number of State of Emergency Orders

Governor Newsom late last week signed a proclamation ending 22 open states of emergency for various fires, storms, and other incidents. Several of those emergencies extend back to 2017 and were for incidents in Lake County. The declaration says emergency status is no longer necessary for response and recovery efforts.
