The Lake County Board of Supervisors approved sending a letter to Congressman Mike Thompson supporting the Secure Rural Schools program, which expired last June and has not yet been reauthorized. Without funding from that bill, rural schools and other public education programs in Lake County could lose almost five hundred thousand dollars a year.
It was two vehicles and a hydrant crash on Tuesday evening at the Boatyard Shopping Center in Fort Bragg. A gushing column of water from the hydrant struck by one of the cars shot into the air for a time. No injuries were reported and Public Works was notified.
A Covelo man was killed in a one-car crash over the weekend northeast of Willits. Dennis Shepherd, 78, was driving westbound on Highway 162 when his vehicle left the road, drove down an embankment, and hit two trees.
