The city of Fort Bragg reports a section of bluff in the area of Todd’s Point on the Pomo Bluffs collapsed over the weekend. The collapse moved the cliff’s edge closer to the walking path, making it unsafe. The area is closed off to all foot traffic.

Flooding in Upper Lake continues due to heavy rains and a build-up of debris blocking the original channel of Clover Creek between First and Second Streets, which is private property. The area around First and Washington streets has experienced flooding before and was taped off as of yesterday. Flooding was also reported in Scotts Valley.
A boil water advisory is in effect for those residents who draw their water from the southern half of Clearlake. There’s an increased threat of sneaker waves expected today for the Mendocino Coast. Large, unexpected waves can sweep people off the beach, rocks, and jetties. Those waves can also carry large objects that can crush someone. Never turn your back on the ocean.
All three police departments in Mendocino County have hired new officers. The Ukiah Police Department has hired Officer August Kinney. Lake County, along with the rest of the state saw an increase in unemployment in December. TheLakeCountyNews reports the unemployment rate rose from 6.1% in November to 6.9% in December. The jobless rate in December 2022 was 5.4%. The state jobless rate rose from 4.9 to 5.1% for the same time.

With the transfer of Ranger Loren Everest, Forest Supervisor Wade McMaster has announced Roy Jones will now act as the Grindstone District Ranger for the next four months. The search for a permanent ranger for that area is underway
