Clear Lake High School’s commencement is scheduled for this evening and part of the celebration will be a professional fireworks display. The display is part of the high school’s senior project. The display is expected to take place around 8:30 after diplomas have been passed out.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has identified the elderly woman who died in a single-car crash near Lakeport midweek. 76-year-old Linda Jean Smith’s vehicle veered across Highway 29, crashed through a barbed wire fence, rolled across Mountainview Road, down an embankment, and hit a tree. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
