The Lake County Fire Protection District, City of Clearlake and the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit are conducting a controlled burn today and that will continue again on the 14th through the 16th between Walmart and Cache Creek Apartments. Firefighters were able to put down a vegetation fire before it spread near Willits yesterday. The fire was seen in the area of Ridgewood Road just after 1:30 pm. Fire crews and a helicopter were requested to fight the blaze. Crews were able to put down the fire with about five total acres burned.

The Lake County Tribal Health Consortium hosted its annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Day event this past Friday in Lakeport’s Xabatin Park.
