News Staff Mendocino National Forest has reopened to the public. The U.S. Forest Service closed Mendocino, along with 12 of the other 18 national forests in the state for two weeks, due to high fire risk and a shortage of firefighting resources.

The Ukiah High School campus was evacuated yesterday afternoon after a vegetation fire broke out about a mile west of the school. According to CalF ire Mendonico Unit, the Gap Fire Incident, in the area of the 1500 block of Low Gap Road, was contained to 3 acres with two additional small spots.
