Requests for ballistic gear from Ukraine have been answered by two Lake County law enforcement agencies. The sheriff’s office has sent 20 pairs of ballistic helmets and vests. Lakeport Police Chief Brad Rasmussen said his department has also donated a fair amount of equipment to the relief effort.

Lake County’s clerk/auditor-controller has said she won’t be seeking another term. Cathy Saderlund has worked for the county of Lake for more than forty years. Saderlund’s assistant, Jenavive Herrington, has filed to run for the seat. Saderlund said personal reasons fueled her decision not to run again.
