Governor Declares Today Welcome Home Day for Vietnam Vets

Vietnam veterans are once again being recognized for their service today, as Welcome Home Day is being observed. The observation follows National Welcome Home Day which took place yesterday. About 10% of the war’s casualties came from California, according to the Governor’s Office. Five Lake County men were reported to have died in that war.

Prescribed Burn Taking Place In Mendocino County

A prescribed burn is scheduled to take place sometime between today and Friday in 90 acres of undergrowth west of Lake Pillsbury and north of the Eel River. Another candidate for the Middletown Unified School District seat up for special election has declared. Bryan Pullman is a contractor and was one of ten people interviewed in December when the school board filled seats vacated by Thad Owens and LaTrease Walker.
