Carjacker Who Stole Elderly Woman’s Car Arrested

Ukiah Police officers arrested a suspected carjacker earlier in the week who took the car from an elderly woman and threatened her with an aluminum baseball bat. UPD said that Erik Smith was taken into custody on carjacking and elder abuse as well as a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear.

Beach Hazard Advisory-Watch Out for “Sneaker” Waves

A beach hazard statement remains in effect from Thanksgiving morning through the evening. Large, unexpected “sneaker” waves can sweep people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. Waves can also move large objects crushing anyone caught underneath.

Highway Patrol Holding Maximum Enforcement Period Over Holiday Weekend

As motorists prepare to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, the CHP is also preparing for a maximum enforcement period starting Wednesday evening through the weekend and will deploy all available officers throughout the holiday weekend. Last year, 42 people were killed in crashes and more than 5,600 citations were issued for speeding and seatbelt violations.
