As of Wednesday, the Mendocino County Animal Shelter announced that the shelter is at capacity, and euthanasia of stray dogs is an unfortunate possibility. An accident killed two people mid-evening on Tuesday on Route 20 west of Upper Lake near Witter Springs Road at mile marker 6 in Lake County. Emergency responders reported two fatalities and an unknown number of people with serious injuries. Route 20 was completely closed for a time. An investigation is underway.

Breaking waves can sweep people off jetties and docks, and create life-threatening surfing conditions. Mariners traversing the bar are urged to exercise extreme caution or stay in port until the threat subsides.
