The Lake County Board of Supervisors meets tomorrow morning and will consider reallocation of just over $867,000 from the state’s Permanent Local Housing Allocation to establish a Regional Housing Trust Fund in a partnership with Clearlake and Lakeport. Cal Fire will begin prescribed burns along U.S. Highway 101 between Ukiah and Willits starting Monday, covering about 400 acres of grass starting at Nelson Ranch Road south of Ukiah, and finishing at the top of Ridgewood Grade south of Willits. Saturday morning, Lake County experienced a 3.4 magnitude earthquake according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered about a half mile southeast of The Geysers and 3.4 miles northeast of Cobb. No injuries or damage have been reported thus far.
A major injury crash just north of Hopland tied up the morning commute for a time. A pickup truck crashed into a tree along the 101 around 7 am on Thursday. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication. An air ambulance was requested to evacuate the driver to the nearest trauma center.
Fort Bragg has completed the purchase of the Mendocino Community Network for $300,000. City officials say the purchase will speed up the development of a mutual broadband utility aimed at delivering high-speed broadband service to the region.
