A 400-acre series of prescribed burns is scheduled to begin June 2nd in Mendocino County along Highway 101. The burn is expected to run through July 2nd, and will target grass in CalTrans right of way from Nelson Ranch Road south of Ukiah to the top of Ridgewood Grade south of Willits. CalFire, CalTrans, and local fire agencies will all participate in the series of burns, which aims to curb future roadside fires and will also present training opportunities for firefighters. Burns will be scheduled Monday through Friday from 6 to 11 pm, weather permitting.
