Mendocino County is preparing for another wildfire season. While most of the northern part of the state has been benefiting from consistent rain and snow over the past year, the seasonal outlook calls for an early onset of the season, with significant potential for fire in June, July, and August. So far, grass is drying sooner than expected this year, and dry, windy weather is expected as summer heats up. The upcoming season will also be exacerbated by cuts made to the U.S. Forest and National Park Services by the Trump administration. State fire officials are asking residents to take the time now to harden their properties and homes against wildfire.
