An earthquake measuring a magnitude 4.7 with an epicenter 2 miles north-northwest of Cobb was felt on New Years Day. The temblor struck at about a mile beneath the surface. A ShakeAlert was sent out to cell phone users in parts of Lake, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma counties. There were no reports of injuries. The shaking was more pronounced closer to the epicenter. Over 800 people responded to the USGS’ “Did You Feel It?” feature. The quake was felt as far away as San Francisco.
