Aftershocks Continue After 7.0 Quake, Authorities Advise Vigilence

In the aftermath of the 7.0 magnitude earthquake last Thursday near Ferndale, there have been over 200 aftershocks in the area. The quake caused some damage in southern Humboldt county, breaking windows and shaking merchandise off store shelves. The aftershocks have mostly been registering over 2.5 magnitude and the U.S. Geological Survey says there at least a 50% chance another quake in the magnitude 5 range will occur and a 7% chance a magnitude 6 will happen.. Local sheriff’s departments are urging residents to remain vigilant and be prepared for aftershocks.
