The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has announced it will conduct a prescribed burn starting today, Wednesday, and run for three days in northern Mendocino County on the Shamrock Ranch east of Highway 101 and south of Laytonville. The burn will involve about 2,000 acres in oak woodlands and mixed conifer habitats. Smoke and aircraft may be visible in the area.
