A fire that burned along Highway 101 in Ukiah late Tuesday afternoon has now been dubbed the Masonite Fire. Around 5:15 homes in the area were issued immediate evacuation orders as the fire burned quickly along both sides of the freeway and in the center median. Firefighters from the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, Cal Fire, the Hopland Fire Protection District, the Redwood-Calpella Volunteer Fire Department, and the Potter Valley Fire Department responded. Just before 6:30 an “all clear” was declared by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s office.
