Lake County Board of Supers Votes To Place Kelseyville Name Change on Ballot

The Lake County Board of Supervisors has voted 3-2 to place a measure on the November 5th election ballot that would, if passed, recommend changing the name of Kelseyville to Konocti.  The LakeCountyNews reports that at an extended special session of the board attended by the public on Tuesday, two draft resolutions were presented, one for all Lake County voters to consider and one that would only be voted upon by Kelseyville Unified School District residents.  The majority of those in favor of the name change thought the countywide vote would be preferable, although some said the board should decide and not put it to the voters.  Supervisors Sabatier and Green voted no, stating the board should instead, submit a recommendation directly to the federal agency reviewing the proposal. Whatever the result of the advisory measure, the Board of Supervisors is poised to recommend changing the town’s name to the agencies tasked with making the final decision, with members suggesting they would not honor a majority that opposed that decision.
