A beach hazards statement is in effect through late Thursday. An increased threat of sneaker waves is expected along the Mendocino Coast. Large, unexpected waves can sweep across the beach without warning, sweeping people into the sea from rocks, jetties, and beaches. Stay much farther back from the water and never turn your back on the ocean. An excessive heat watch is in effect for Lake County through Thursday evening. It will be dangerously hot and windy with temperatures from 95 to 103 degrees possible, especially in the eastern part of the county.
