State Historic Preservation Office Blocked by Ukiah City Council Regarding Palace Hotel

The Ukiah City Council’s declaration that the historic Palace Hotel is an imminent threat to the public has blocked the State Historic Preservation’s Office attempt to step in and stop the proposed demolition of the landmark.  By state law, no historic structure registered as historic can be altered or demolished without review. The city council’s declaration in November was before a request for review.  The city for its part has done nothing to enforce the emergency order regarding the demolition.
