A Laytonville woman was found guilty yesterday of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the death of an elderly woman from Arcata. Jane Laycock Barisione appeared in Mendocino Superior Court, with the trial revealing that Barisione was driving an unregistered vehicle in the fast lane at an unsafe speed during a heavy rainstorm, with bald rear tires which caused her vehicle to hydroplane. Barisione’s vehicle crossed over the yellow line and hit another vehicle, causing major injuries to the 74-year-old male passenger and killing the 76-year-old driver.
