An appeal has been filed on behalf of an Upper Lake man sentenced to 16 years to life in prison for the brutal beating death of the mother of his children. The appeal, filed for Willy Tujays Timmons, states that he was not afforded his right to due process when the Lake County Superior Court failed to record his pleas of not guilty by reason of insanity. The Superior Court must now place Timmon’s case on its docket. If Timmons is sent to the state hospital, theoretically he could be released if he is found not to be a danger to others.
