Battalion Aviation Chief Ray Taglio took his last flight in that position on Sunday. Taglio has served at the Ukiah Air Attack Base, operating as the eyes in the sky for Mendocino firefighters. He officially retires on the 20th of next month. Taglio started as a seasonal firefighter for CalFire in Petaluma in 1992 and he says that he hopes to spend some time as an instructor once he’s settled into retirement.
