The Mendocino Coast Humane Society will soon receive $18K to help fill the gap that the closure of the county-run shelter will create. KZYX reports the funds will come from a surplus in the City Council’s Training and Travel fund. The takeover of the county shelter is in process and will take the next few months. The additional funding will help boost shelter income, which relies on donations from the public, the shelter’s ARC Thriftstore, adoptions and a grant from the city.
