Mendocino County Board of Supervisors Investigating Budget Shortfall

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors at their last meeting discussed responsibility for the multi-million dollar shortfall in the county’s health plan. MendoFever reports the county has earmarked $4.6 million from ARPA funds to cover the deficit, which has taken two years to accumulate and wasn’t discovered until this past April. It is thought that in fiscal year 2016-17 a decision made to spend down the county’s reserve may have been the culprit. For now, the coUnty must work to repair the damage done to its financial health.
