Clearlake City Council Triggers Election of New Council Members

The Clearlake City Council earlier in the week decided not to appoint two members and the city treasurer. The LakeCountyNews reports that the council, citing a government code that prohibits appointments that would result in a majority of the city council serving by way of appointment rather than by election, has decided to allow the deadline for appointment to pass, which will trigger an election on November 8th, which has already been budgeted for. Write-in candidates can still seek both the council and treasurer’s seats.
