A civil grand jury convened after the investigation of a citizen watchdog group into the running of the Lakeport Fire Protection District has found serious inconsistencies in the way the district has been run, with accountability requirements not being met, financial shortfalls, and stress among staff due to high turnover of administrators, board members, and fire chiefs. The Record Bee reports that although the Grand Jury noted that their findings were in no way critical of the firefighters and commended the board for improvements made over the course of their investigation, it did find that a full forensic audit of the LFPD and its properties should be done.
