Ukiah Man Files Federal Suit Againt Ukiah PD, Officers

A Ukiah man injured during an arrest last Spring has filed suit against the Ukiah Police Department in Federal Court for violating his constitutional rights and for assault after he was allegedly beaten by officers. Arturo Valdes was booked into the Mendocino County Jail with visible facial fractures on March 28, 2021 on suspicion of DUI — but his attorney says Valdes was at home with his family at the time of his arrest. The complaint alleges that officers violated Valdez’ 4th Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution.
