The search for an armed suspect on Monday evening triggered a shelter in place alert for those living in Comptche. Shortly after 11 pm, Monday evening deputies were sent out and they identified Michael McSorley as being connected to both a suspicious fire and an assault on another man. Deputies searched for McSorley throughout the night and Tuesday morning, and went to his home, where he refused to come out. A SWAT team was called and the team took McSorley into custody. McSorley was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats and assault with a firearm.
