The murder suspect who was said to be headed to Mendocino County has been captured. Austin Michael Medeiros of Warwick, Rhode Island was arrested Sunday in Santa Cruz County where he tried to steal a boat. Medeiros was found to be in possession of a stolen gun and a quantity of psilocybin mushrooms. Medeiros is wanted in connection with a murder in Humboldt County. He was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of grand theft, carrying a loaded stolen firearm as well as possession and transportation of drugs. He will be extradited to Humboldt County on the murder charges, evading police, assault, battery, and drug possession. Bail was set at $1 million.
